What is Refractive Lens Exchange?

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a vision correction technique that can be used for patients with high prescriptions or who otherwise fall outside of the range suitable for standard laser vision correction.

The surgical procedure is no different from standard cataract surgery , except that there is minimal or no cataract and the primary objective is to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses. With lens implants, you can enjoy clear vision for the rest of your life. What’s more, depending on the suitability of the eye, multifocal or presbyopia correcting lens implants can offer freedom from reading glasses too.

Refractive Lens Exchange is considered a cosmetic procedure and (like Laser Vision Correction) is generally not covered by private health insurance, nor is it available via the public health system.
